The Heartbeat

Under Construction

Just so you know...we haven't forgotten about this site, but it has taken a back seat to other projects at the moment.  Unfortunately!  One of the projects though is a new church website, which will actually end up eliminating this site and the blog will take place inside of the church's new site itself.  Be watching and waiting for that new site to appear.  If anyone is even still checking out this site...

Free Indeed

After an amazing weekend this past Saturday, it's hard to put into words just how incredible it was to see the body of Christ in action.   Well, over 1,000 people endured the heat of the day to come out and take part in this amazing day, along with 130 different church members who volunteered to give freely as had been given to them.  Our prayer is that God's love was showed to many of those people in ways that they'd never seen before.

Whether by the free food,

Or the free clothes,

Or the free entertainment,

May they have gotten a glimpse of God's free love.

AWANA

It's hard to imagine, but AWANA is just around the corner.  Be praying now about God using you in mighty ways through the AWANA program this next year.  Also, be thinking of who you might invite to come and attend AWANA this year.  For more information please see David Davis or email him at double_d29@lycos.com.

We are sparks for Jesus, Sparks to light the world.

We will shine for Jesus, As we tell....

Denlingers (on left) Stephens (on right)

Jim and Patt Denlinger (pictured above on the left) live on Twp. Rd. 179 in Bellefontaine, and both grew up in this area, Jim in DeGraff, and Patt in West Mansfield.  Jim works at Honda Transmission, and Patt for Bellefontaine City Schools.  They are proud parents and grandparents of three sons and three grandsons: A son, Jeff, is a music teacher and lives in Sunbury with his wife Janna and their son Carson;  Jeremy is Camp Director at nearby Camp Wesley. He and his wife Aurelia, are the parents of two children.  Jason is finishing up his college career at Otterbein College as a music education major.  Jim and Patt have been attending Calvary since January, 2007.

Sandy and Dave Stephens (pictured above on the right) have lived and worked at Camp Cotubic for over 20 years since arriving in Logan County from Indiana.  Dave is the Executive Director, while Sandy also works for Ben Logan schools when summer camp is over. They served in the pastorate for 20 years prior to coming to Camp Cotubic.  They have three grown children and two granddaughters.  Dave and Sandy have already been a big part of Calvary for many years in both spirit and service.

Steve Woodruff (pictured below) graduated from Triad High School in 2000.  He now lives in the same house he grew up in, as his parents recently moved to Greensburg, Indiana.  His sister, Kelly, married Jeremy Willetts, which makes the ever-famous Jackson Willetts (pictured) Steve’s nephew.

Steve has worked at Honda for the past four years, but as a full-time associate the past year-and-a-half.  He is involved with the 714 ministry, and his hobbies are golf, golf, and golf.

Following the 10:45 AM service, we will have a carry-in meal in the fellowship hall.  Please bring a main dish and a salad or dessert.  Everything else will be provided.

We will NOT be having the 6:00 PM service.

We hope you plan to join us for this special day of worship and fellowship.

peeping...

Here's a little something that should be fun to add.  Over the next few weeks I plan to snap a picture of various staff people around the church going about their regular tasks.  Letting you get an inside look at what really goes on around here during the week.  Okay...maybe the picture won't actually give a very accurate portrayal of what takes place, but at least it should be entertaining.

This week we begin with non-other than Pastor Bob...

Pastor Bob hard at work

Busy Sabbath

So we traditionally try to make Sundays a day of rest and refreshment.  But this is one week when we're looking for the excitement to be a renewal for you.  It might make for a long day, but hopefully you'll lay down that night thinking "It was good to be a part of Calvary's community today."  Kind of like laying down on Thanksgiving night.  It is a great day of family, friends, food, football, and food again; but by the end of the day your contentedly tired.

A few things that will be happening this Sunday include

1. A Bunch of Baptisms

2. A prayer of dedication for those going on the student missions trip.  (trip begins June 20th)

3.  VBS set-up (VBS runs from June 16-20)

4.  Father's Day

5.  Evening Service held at the new church property for a time of prayer and dedication.

Hiatus

After a lull in post for the past few months...an attempt is being made to revive the Heartbeat(clever huh).  Look for some more posts on a regular basis again.  Especially now that summer has kicked into high gear, expect to see plenty of posts about the numerous summer activities.

Super Newbie

 Kevin and Teresa Boggs

Pastor Kevin and Teresa Boggs have joined the staff of the church.  Pastor Kevin's primary responsibilities will be counseling and administrative work.   They come to us with a wealth of education and experience  and we are excited to see God at work through them in our church.  Look for their smiling faces around the church and be sure to ask them about their new grandbaby, or how the Reds are doing this year.

Batter Up

It's nearly softball season again and time for registration.  If you're interested sign-up on the sheet in the foyer of the church.

Canceled

Men of God has unfortunately had to be canceled.  Thanks to the weather that God has blessed us with and the inability to travel safely in it, we have canceled.  More details to follow soon.

No Men of God on Saturday March 8, 2008.
